Tis the Season

We took the girls to a Christmas party last weekend and they were all about the candy canes. They were really good until Santa showed up and you would have thought an axe murderer walked in. They wanted nothing to do with him. At what age do they get over this? Geez. Anywho, this is a new page I did. I wish I could take credit for the layout but it is a quick page made by Weeds and Wildflowers Designs. They're doing a new quick page everyday for the 12 days of Christmas. They are so cute.

I want to thank everyone for voting for me in rounds 1 and 2 in the Stone Accents Studios designer contest. I made it thru to round 3 but with work and all the christmas festivities I didn't have time to design a new kit for the contest. It was fun tho!

So, I finally got all the shopping done, and presents wrapped so I have the whole weekend to just sit back and actually enjoy it. Some friends are going to stop by on Saturday so our kids can exchange their presents, so I guess that means I'll be doing some power-cleaning and the girls and I are going to make some cookies for Santa and that's about it. Christmas Eve we will be having a big family party at my parents' so I'm really looking forward to hanging with them with lots of food, presents, cocktails (oh yeah baby!), and laughs. Christmas Day we will be with the hubby's family. It works out really well. My hubby and I are dying for Christmas morning when the girls come downstairs and see all the presents and cool stuff Santa brought them. I think we're more excited then they are.

That's it for now. I'll be posting more freebies soon, so check back. Thanks to everyone who stops by and leaves me comments and emails. I've met some really great friends and I'm just having a ball with all of this.

I hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday!!!

Christmas Traditions

I saw this on someone else's blog and thought I'd give it a go....

1. Colored lights or white lights on your house or not at all? white lights

2. Hot chocolate or Egg Nog? neither - dr. pepper please (or beer)

3. What's your favorite holiday dish? my family's italian traditional pasta with oil and garlic (instead of sauce)

4. Does Santa wrap the presents or just sit them under the tree? he'd better wrap them unless he wants to walk out of there with a severe limp!

5. Do you hang mistletoe? no

6. When do you put up your decorations? weekend after thanksgiving

7. What's your favorite holiday tradition? my family getting together on christmas eve for a big meal, cocktails, presents, and lots of laughs.

8. What's on the top of your tree? a big bow

9. Do you have a nativity displayed through the holidays? i used to put one on my coffee table but since the girls came along, i haven't in fear that a wise man may end up MIA

10.Candy Canes, traditional or flavored? Or Chocolate Covered Cherries? traditional

11.What's your favorite holiday goodie to make and share? jello shots(!)

12.What's your favorite Christmas song? love those chipmunks songs or white christmas

13.Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? My side of the family opens presents xmas eve; then we hang with hubby's family on xmas day.

14.Is there a special ornament or Christmas decoration that you wouldn't feel like Christmas without? lights everywhere

15. Do you take neighbor gifts/treats to anyone, everyone, a select few? just family and close friends

16.Is your big meal on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning or Christmas afternoon? Definitely Christmas Eve

17.How do you decorate your tree? white lights and red and white decorations (next year will be different)

18.Snow? Love it? Dread it? Tolerate it? love it if i don't have to drive in it (or shovel it)

19.Do you remember a favorite gift? my barbie dreamhouse when I was about 9 or 10

20.Do you have a family get-together during the holidays with extended family? just close family

21.What's the most important thing that you must do each Christmas season? be with my family

22.Do you bake Christmas cookies? i usually don't because my mom makes the best; but I'm going to make a few this year so the girls can help decorate.

23.Do you leave cookies and milk for Santa? this will be the first year (the girls are adamant about it, even though they're scared to death of him...figure that one out!)

24.What's your favorite Christmas memory? When I was little we had a huge family christmas get together christmas eve over my cousin's house. My dad would mysteriously disappear for about an hour every year and I could never figure it out. When we got home there would be an explosion of presents everywhere for my brother and I and decorations knocked over looking like Santa busted up the joint. We'd stay up until 2 a.m. then be up by 7 a.m. to play with our new stuff! Yes, we were one of the weird families that opened presents on christmas eve instead of christmas day.

How 'bout you? Copy and paste on your blog. Let me know if you do so I can check it out.

Round 2....

Hey all! Thanks to everyone who voted for me in the designer contest over at Stone Accents Studios. They had some problems with the voting so everyone is going thru to the next round. Apparently someone accidently reset all the votes and it cleared everyone's votes, so I don't know exactly how many I had. But judging from all the comments, you all seemed to like my kit. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!!

Now, on to Round 2. We had to create a holiday themed kit using whatever colors we wanted. Here's my entry ----> What do ya think? I had such a rough time with this one; I've been so busy lately that I just haven't had alot of time to put it together. I think it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself! I'm diggin' those trees.

Voting starts Friday and will run thru the weekend. You can download my kit (and all the others too!) here.

Hope you have a wonnerful weekend. Talk to yas soon!

Voting Has Begun...

Voting is now open in the Stone Accents Studio designer contest. Head over here to check out all the entries and download some free kits! If ya like my kit best please vote for me (no pressure!). Here's a preview of my entry ----->

We had to come up with a kit using only these colors. Hope you all likey! =)

OH, if anyone is planning on sending out photo xmas cards this year, wait'll ya see what I've got for ya. They are going to be 4 x 8 cards, and all you have to do is plop a picture on them, print 'em, and send 'em.
I can't wait to get mine done. I'm having a photo session this weekend with my girls in their xmas outfits for our cards. Hopefully they will cooperate. I'll post some pics next week.

Speaking of the girls...Ashley has discovered the fine art of cussing. Yesterday, my mother-in-law heard her say "Oh sh*t". Isn't that just delightful. She was told that was a bad word and we don't say that. Well, Emily heard it and decided to join in the fun and said "Oh sh*t" too. Nice, huh? I've got a couple of truck drivers on my hands. And yes, I'm sure they got it from me. I've been known to throw down some "Oh sh*t's" (and worse).

Don't forget to vote *nudge nudge* ;)

Dear Santa....

I was flipping through a Christmas catalog last week and I came across a cute little santa sign. But of course I thought, "Hey, I can make one of these myself", so here's the result. I used DCWV paper from last year's Christmas Stack and printed out the text on my printer; ribbon is from Joann's.

Not a whole lot happening around here to report. We put up the xmas tree on Saturday which was loads of fun (being sarcastic, of course). We have one of those fake pre-lit trees, and, well you pretty much need an engineering degree to figure the thing out. I couldn't get the bottom part of the tree lights to go on so after about an hour trying to figure it out, and using some pretty colorful language, I decided, screw it, and I ripped down the lights I put around one of our living room windows and wrapped it around the bottom of the tree. Then I started smelling something funky...I checked the girls first (always the go-to first), then noticed smoke coming off the top of the tree. I'm not kidding, I couldn't make this stuff up. So I immediately unplugged the top portion of the tree, went to another living room window and ripped those lights down and wrapped them around the top of the tree. There you have it, the Griswold, err, the Knapp Family Christmas Tree. Had to throw in a little Christmas Vacation reference for ya there. The girls were a big help...yeah, they were trying to find out if ALL of their toys could fit inside the tree box. As it turns out, yes they can, and boy were they pissed when I made them put them all back before they could watch Caillou. I wish I would have taken pics of that, but man, I just wasn't in the mood (go figure).

So here are a couple of pics I took of them this morning playing with thier farm thingy toy. I love the pigtails.

I'll have a new freebie soon. I seem to have lost my mojo, but I'm sure it will be back soon (I hope).
Have a great week ;)

Quickpage Freebie

Sorry I've been MIA lately. The girls and I came down with yet ANOTHER cold last week, so I haven't really felt like doing much of anything. But we are all doing better now so I did another quickpage for ya. Not sure if I really like this or not, but if ya want it, grab it here. I don't know who made the kit, so if it's you, please let me know and I will give you credit.

I also "re-decorated" my page. Do you like? I really like the way my new banner turned out. It took me all weekend to get the animation going.

I'm going to try to get a new kit done soon, so be on the lookout.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Gobble 'til ya wooble my friends, and for God's sake, pace yourselves.

Jack Frost Kit

I finally finished another kit. Geez, thought I'd never crank another one out. I've had "designer's block" (if that's what you want to call it) and I just couldn't come up with anything until I heard on the radio that we're going to have our first snow fall on monday or tuesday. *yikes* So, here's what I came up with. Hope you all enjoy. Snag it here. I'm taking my last vacation week from work this week so wish me luck (dealing with the twins all week!) I don't have a whole lot planned...mostly catching up on household stuff. I'm dying to put up all my christmas stuff, but when I mentioned it to the hubby, he looked at me like I had three eyes, so I'm going to try like hell to contain myself. I know alot of people hear the word "Christmas" and they immediately get stressed out and would rather stick a fork in their eye than think about it, but I can't wait. I love everything about it. Especially now with the girls...everything is new to them and its so much fun. Daddy taught Emily "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" so that's what she's been running around the house singing for the past week. So cute!

The Cutest Bumble Bees Ever!

The girls went to their cousins' birthday/halloween party on Sunday so they got to wear their costumes. I didn't get alot of pics because they get shy when alot of people are around and they just flat out refuse to take a picture. Here are the only semi-decent onesI got.

Ashley took a liking to Mr. Skeleton here whose eyes light up and had a wicked laugh. Notice her holding his hand?!

Couple of Questions Answered

Real quick post here....a few people have been asking what software I use to create my kits and I use Paint Shop Pro. I have Photoshop Elements too but I haven't had time to teach myself how to use it.

Also, someone emailed me and said that some of the past kits I've posted cannot be downloaded. Kits are only available for a short time, then I take the link down to make room for newer ones. If there is a specific kit that you want and the link isn't working, email me and I'll make sure you get it.

That's all for now.....busy, busy, busy!! xoxoxoxo

Nighty-Night Kit

I'm back and feeling much better. Thanks for all the emails...you guys crack me up!! I still have that wonderful hacking cough and I sound like Precious the dog when I laugh, but other than that, I'm pretty much back to normal.

I tried on the girls' bumble bee costumes over the weekend, well, I tried Emily's on. Ashley was having NONE of that! She just refused, but Emily looked so friggin' cute!! They have twin cousins who are turning five on Sunday and are having a costume birthday party. Hopefully Ashley will cooperate and wear her costume. The kid can be such a diva when she wants...I have NO idea where she gets THAT from ; )

So here's another kit for ya...I really liked this color scheme and for some reason reminded me of babies sleeping, so there ya go. Hey, I'd love to see the layouts you create with my kits. Please send me a link to your gallery or just email them to me, I'd love to check them out! Nighty-night....

We decided to let the girls carve their pumpkins last night. What a friggin' mess!! These are the only pictures I took of the event because I was so over the whole thing by the time the first pumpkin was carved. I guess I shoulda waited until I was totally over being sick. But, they had had fun sticking their hands in the goop and scooping it out. We got their costumes for trick or treating this year and they are both going to be bumble bees. Can't wait to try them on.

Feelin' Icky

I came down with the flu on Saturday. Thank God for Columbus Day on Monday and I didn't have to go in to work. Just your basic achy all over, one minute freezing, next minute sweating buckets, no appetite, head feeling like its going to explode, just want to sleep. My husband took over mommy duties for a few days...bless his heart. I'm back at work and not exactly feeling great, but better than yesterday, for sure. Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'm working on some new kits, so as soon as I'm back to normal (relatively speaking, of course), I'll be posting them.

Halloweenie Kit

As promised, here is a Halloween theme kit freebie for you. Grab it here (password "girly"). I wanted to do something with other colors than the typical orange and black. Let me know what you think. I hope you like it. I love that little ghost!

Talk to ya soon =)

(If anyone has a kit in mind that they'd like to see, let me know and I'll do my best to create one.)

In a Cupcake-y Mood

I had a hankering for some cupcakes this weekend so the girls and I whipped up a batch. So yummy!!

They put the sprinkles on them and stuck in the scarecrow, and me, being the mean mommy that I am told them they couldn't have any until after they ate supper. Yeah, it was KILLIN' them!! I had to laugh.

I'll be posting a Halloween themed freebie within the next couple of days, so keep an eye out for it.

Just HAD to Share!

Here's a new layout I did of my girls. This photo was taken a couple of days after we brought them home from the hospital. I love this pic. I got the layout idea from someone on Scrapbook-bytes (I'm sorry I can't remeber who). I really love the way it turned out, and I just had to share.

Everything was made by me except the ribbon and graphics.

I'll be back soon to post another freebie!

(By the way...like my Arrested Development shrine I have? Scroll down, left side. BAH HA HA!!) My gawd I love that show!!

Another Picture Frame

Here's another frame I made tonight. I wanted something that matched the colors in my living room. Took me all of about 20 minutes to put together. Of course, 10 minutes of it were spent digging through my ribbon stash. I really need to organize. Other than that, nothing new to report. This time of year I'm a football widow so the girls and I did some shopping, and just hung out. They are both back in Barney mode, so my days have been filled with that (lucky me). Have a great week!

Can Someone Help?

Does anyone out there have any extra chipboard coasters? I need about 20 of them and of course no one around here sells them. I'm desperate. I'd be happy to pay for them or swap some goodies for them. I'd be forever grateful. You can either email me or leave a comment for me under this post. Thanks so much! *smooches*

Happy Labor Day

Hope everyone is having a fun and safe Labor Day. We're just hanging around the house today. Yesterday my husband's side of the family had a big picnic and we spent the day there. The girls had fun playing with the kids and eating all the yummy food. Everyone was to bring a dish so I made this cheesy broccoli/rice dish and I made some cupcakes for the girls to decorate and bring. I tried my hand at using a pastry bag to ice them and, well, they didn't come out quite as profession looking as I had hoped! But, not too bad for a first time. Here are a couple of pics of the girls after they decorated them.

I have to throw this one in here too...$5,000 worth of toys and THIS is what entertains them...

Almost Fall...Yipee!!

I love fall!! My favorite time of the year (besides Christmas, of course). I can't wait until the leaves start changing colors and the air gets a little chilly...not cold...just chilly enough that you need a sweater or sweatshirt. I don't know about how the weather is in your neck of the woods but here in good 'ol Northeast Ohio it's humid, and I hate every second of it. My hair turns into a big frizz-ball...kinda like the one episode of Friends where they all go to Barbados for Ross's conference and its so muggy that Monica gets the "Shaft" hairdo. Yep, its a good look.

Anyway, here's another quickpage I did. You can download it here (password "girly"). Hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment if you download.

My New Keychain

I've been wanting to make one of these for a long time, and finally got the chance to. Not really sure if I like this one or not. I may have to make another one and iron out my mistakes. Let me know what you think.

I'm on vacation this week, and I gotta tell ya, I may need a vacation from my vacation! Dealing with 2 two-year olds is WAY more exhausting than being at work. Since my parents and my mother-in-law watch the girls during the week when my husband and I are at work, I thought I'd give them a vacation too. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being with my girls and we are having a great time, but man, what I wouldn't give for a whole day just to myself. And on that note, I hear my monsters are up from their nap, so I better go get them before they turn their room into a disaster area. Talk to you all soon! =)

Ever See That Movie "The Birds"

Come over to my house and you'll get a live version of "The Bats". Yeah, last weekend we had a couple of unwelcomed guests and homegirl here about had a heart attack...literally. Picture it...10:30 p.m., everyone in bed, I'm sitting at my computer minding my own damn business, when all of a sudden something flies into my hair, and hits my ear!!!! I screamed (naturally), swatted my head, looked up, and there was a friggin' bat flying around. Well, I just shat myself right then and there and high-tailed it upstairs to my bedroom. My husband jumps up and says "why are you screaming?" I told him the horrific story and he goes downstairs to check it out. Of course, no bat in sight. Thank God I had the girls' bedroom door closed so he couldn't fly in there. Anyway, we couldn't find him so we go to bed. Yeah, slept with one eye open that whole night. Lovely bags under the eyes the next day. We eventually found him that next day and got rid of him. Ok...fast forward to Sunday early morning... my husband gets out of bed around 4ish to go to the bathroom; I waited for him to come back in so I could go next. He comes back in the bedroom, half asleep and grumbles, "there's another bat in the house and I'm not chasing after it right now". Great....I hafta pee and there's a bat in the house. Needless to say, I did not venture out to the bathroom and now I can't fall back to sleep because (1) there's a bat in the house; and (2) I hafta pee!!! That next day, no sign of any bat, and come dusk I decide to watch tv in the "no-bat zone" of my bedroom while my husband watches football downstairs in the living room. Around 9:30ish I needed something to drink so as I open my bedroom door, I see my husband walking up the stairs to tell me that our little bat friend as taken flight again. Luckily he got the thing closed in in our kitchen. I tried so hard to be brave and I wanted to help him so I creep down the steps to do I-don't-know-what, but hey, it's an effort, right? Just as I get to the bottom of the stairs and peek around the corner at my husband, I see him flinch and duck. Well, I freaked, started running back upstairs, pissed myself a little and locked myself back in the bedroom. All the while my poor husband is chasing this thing with a fishing net and towel. Such a sight! He finally got him and let him outside.

So that has been what I've been dealing with and I'm a nervous wreck over it. Everyone keeps telling me that they won't hurt me and not to get so worked up over it. Well screw you, they are not in your house!!! So I decided to call in the professionals and they are coming out to our house on Monday to find out how many we actually have and where they are coming in at. Hopefully we get rid of them SOON so I can go back to feeling comfortable in my own home again. Oh yeah, my husband is working a double shift tonight so I'm going to be home alone with the girls. Come sun-down I'm going to hole myself up in my bedroom again until he comes home. Nice, huh? Lovin' life I am. Anyone ever had this problem?

So anyway, I did manage to do another layout...I love watching these two play together. They have so much fun with each other; always laughing and giggling.

Ok, enough for now....I'm off to find my cross and put together the ever-so-fashionable garlic necklace.

It Was Bound to Happen...

Yes...my babies aren't babies anymore. *sigh* Last night they spent their first night in "big girl beds". Yesterday, we bought them bunk beds that look something like this ------->

Of course they are not bunked...and after we got them all set up, with their new sheets, pillows and comforter, they crawled into their new beds, mommy got tears in her eyes. How pathetic is that?! They look like little peanuts in there. They are just growing up so fast. It seems like every day its something new. But, I love every minute of it.

For the bedding, Emily's is purple with butterflies (I couldn't find a picture of it online), but here is what Ashley's looks like:

Just a real quick post....I whipped up a couple new layouts of my girls. These pics were taken at my nephew's graduation open house a couple weeks ago. They were having so much fun on these swings, they screamed when it was time to go and I got the "mom's a big meanie" attitude.
